Ocean Sports Resort is situated on Watamu Beach, a Marine Park protected by the Kenya Wildlife Service. Watamu is a small fishing village south of Malindi town on Kenya's North coast. It has about 20 km's of beaches, of which 6 are in the Watamu Marine National Park.

The Watamu beach road is about 10kms from North to South where it ends at the mouth of Mida Creek. The name "Watamu" means "sweet people" in Swahili. The name came from the fact that Arab slave traders used to distribute sweets to entice the local population before taking them as slaves.
