Kanani Reef House Watamu Beach Kenya house is a private home for exclusive rental created by a couple with love for unique beauty, wildlife and culture of kenya's swahili Coast. Only minutes from the small fishing village of Watamu, Kanani house enjoys a combination of vibrant local community and yet absolute privacy on a six-acre plot overlooking the Indian Ocean. There are three bedrooms, each of which is a separate cottage in the 5 acre walled gardens and each has an en suite bathroom and gigantic 8 foot bed. The large central living room has a big deck for sunbathing or stargazing and lots of places to lounge in the shade, including lovely swing beds. Down the path towards the sea is the gorgeous salt water pool with amazing views of the Indian Ocean, as Kanani is on a cliff over the sea. There is beach access at low tide through the gated tunnel, or you can walk or take a tuk tuk to Watamu's famous beaches - Turtle Bay beach was voted one of the top ten beaches in the world.

Kanani is a Robinson Crusoe experience, there's no wifi, TV or a landline phone, although cell phones do work. It's an eco build as far as possible, there is no air conditioning. The rooms are screened for privacy, but otherwise open to the sea breezes, so staying there is a tiny bit like very upmarket camping, although with comfy beds, lights, running water and a full staff!

The wonderful house staff, including an excellent cook, Elvis, will look after you completely during your stay, doing all the shopping, cooking, laundry and will help you arrange and plan any activities you'd like to do during your stay, if you can pull yourself away from the pool...

Kanani House has 3 rooms available.There is a separate rondavel which consists of a bedroom with an 8 foot (2.4m) double bed, with a mosquito net.

Dining & Staff

Elvis, the great cook, prepares all meals at Kanani with the freshest possible local produce. His food has become legendary in Watamu - just look at Kanani's trip advisor reviews!

Meals are served family style, i.e. choose a dish to be shared at the table. Guests especially love his coconut fish and fresh pesto on pasta. Full board options are available.

Drinks are not included in the price, but you can order your own locally - there's a fridge in the living room so you can have access to cold drinks anytime.
