13 Nights 14 Days Bush & Beach Safari – Highlights of Kenya

Print PDF
This safari begins with two nights at the Northern frontier of Samburu backtracking to Aberdare National Park then south east to Nakuru which is renown for its birdlife and popular with ornithologists. Also known as the Pink Mans Lake as it is covered by the prolific pink flamingoes. We then head to Masai Mara a world famous game sanctuary where annual wildebeest migrate every year in search of greener pastures between Serengeti and Mara ecosystem. This occurs every single year between June – October. So you will be lucky to catch the episode especially along the Mara River where the epitome episode occurs.

After a rewarding safari experience in some of the finest game sanctuaries in Kenya, Africa and the world at large, end your honeymoon vacation with a beach holiday enjoying the African sun and sandy beaches of the Kenyan Coast

Highlights of Samburu National Reserve: This is located 90km north of Mt Kenya and about 360km North of Nairobi. It is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, a Samburu name, meaning the "River of Brown water". This means plenty of water, trees and shade to attract wildlife.

Samburu Reserve would be incomplete without a visit to the hippo pools where large numbers of Big –five Elephants wallow in the cooling muds of the River. Ewaso Nyiro River is favorite spot for prides of Lion to rest in the shade. There is also stunning birdlife with are recorded species of over 400. The Samburu complex is also home to Samburu herdsmen who can be seen driving their herds through the dust, dressed in striking red blankets and carrying spears.

Highlights of Aberdare National Park: Aberdare National Park is located Central Highlands west of Mt. Kenya approximately 180 km from Nairobi via Nyeri encircled by the wild and beautiful moorlands of the third highest mountain range in Kenya. This atmospheric park offers a mist-wreathed realm where Elephants roam through lichen-hung forest, spectacular waterfalls plunge into churning pools and trout-filled streams cascade through mossy dells.

This park is a haven for anglers, walkers and lovers of solitude alike, it also offers matchless views of glittering coronet of Mt. Kenya and the sparkling lakes (L. Naivasha & Nakuru) of the Great Rift Valley.

The lodges are also the main attraction of the Aberdares. Both Treetops and The Fairmont Ark are built above the ground beside floodlit waterholes with salt licks. Visitors must book in advance and cannot make their own way to the lodges in private vehicles. Instead check-in is at the Aberdare Country club for The Ark and the Outspan Hotel for Treetops where you are transferred to the respective lodge. Treetops is one of Kenya's most famous hotels as this is where British Princess Elizabeth was informed that she was enthroned as Queen of England during her visit in 1952 soon after her father's death.

Nocturnal game viewing is the highlight of the tree lodges such that the guests are at liberty to request to be notified in the event that a rare animal turns up at the waterhole. African Elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard and bushbuck are regular visitors

Highlights of Lake Nakuru National Park: Lake Nakuru National park (commonly referred to as the Pink Lake) which covers 180 sq km. The park is home to Lion, Warthog, Waterbuck, Buffalo, Reedbuck and the occasional Leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and you may find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists' delight with more than 400 species of bird found here.

Highlights of Maasai Mara National Reserve: This Reserve forms part of the Great Masai Mara-Serengeti Eco-system. Picnic lunch will be served at the Mara River Hippo Point where Hippos and Crocodiles can be viewed basking along the river bed. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange tinted sunsets and you will definitely want to capture this moment while sipping on a sun downer back at our lodge. The ultimate action here is without doubt the annual wildebeest exodus in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of pasture before turning south again in October. Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains and the wildlife after which you come back down for a beautiful champagne breakfast. Hot air Balloon flight in Maasai Mara costs US$ 460 per person.
