Shimoni Reef Lodge

Some guests come to visit the fantastic marine reserves and islands, dive and snorkel, some to sport fish, others to just relax in a totally private atmosphere with ocean views of islands and the forests nearby. Many just pass the time spotting dolphins from the balcony , monkeys in the trees, birds all around, and a splendid fleet of dhows sailing past mornings and afternoons, with the wind in their sails .The local cuisine is famous for the fresh sea food available every day.

Shimoni is a traditional Swahili fishing village where tourism has not had taken over. Traditional sailing dhows ply the Wasini channel day and night delivering fish and spices and supporting the marine park in a unique old way of life.

Shimoni Reef Lodge are nestled in a beautiful garden with a pool surrounded by mature forest trees on 3 acres. The main recreation area is in large Moorish house with relaxing views towards the Pemba channel and facing Wasini island. The house consists of a lounge / bar/ terrace and extended sundeck over the water, and the tidal beach is directly below. DSTV available in TV loung. Cottages

The cottages in Shimoni Reef Lodge are white washed and thatch covered with a home feel inside. The balcony is perfect to sit and watch the Wasini channel as boats sail by whilst birds and monkeys compete for the tropical fruits on the tamarind and baobab trees in the garden around the cottages.

All cottages have a double bed, and a single bed, 2 couches, fans and en suite bathroom facilities.

This remarkable terrace suite has view on the sunset and sunrise looking directly on the Wasini island, the Pemba channel and the Usambari mountains in Tanzania across the bay.

The Coral House

Set within the grounds of the lodge is a spacious 2 bedroom, each ensuite, house that can be rented for self –catering. We can add extra bed's in each bedroom so that 6 or 8 people can be accommodated.

The house has a fully equipped kitchen and we can arrange a private cook during your stay. Guests staying at the Coral House can always go to the bar and restaurant.

The lodge's swimming pool is available to Coral house guests.
