Rhino River Camp is located approximately 120 miles north-east of Nairobi in beautiful open country on the banks of the Kindani River on the western border of the Meru National Park.
Rhino River Camp is situated within 80 acres of privately owned wilderness on the edge of the Meru National Park. By scheduled or chartered flight you land inside Meru National Park and a 40-minute transfer take you to the Rhino River Camp.
Rhino River Camp is a quiet and exclusive retreat with a collection of just eight luxury cottages made out of canvas and local hardwood. The cottages of Rhino River Camp are set amongst the trees of the pristine forest bordering the Kindani River.
Spacious and very comfortable, and blending in with the surrounding forest, they make the perfect retreat and ideal location from which to feel part of the living, breathing environment of the forest.
Each room has a view over the river and its huge raffia palms, yellow fever trees, and tamarinds. Rhino River Camp canvas cottages are scattered along the river bank, with each enjoying its own unimpeded view, thus ensuring a private and peaceful stay in the most romantic setting imaginable.
All Rhino River Camp rooms have a literary theme and each is named after a writer or an artist who left a sign in African cultural history.
Next to "Peter Beard", "Ngugi Wa Thiong'o", "Ernest Hemingway" and "Edgar R. Burroughs" rooms is the Suite "Karen Blixen". Like the others Karen Blixen Suite is built on wooden decks along the river and spread over a surface of some 80 square meters (240 square feet) making it a spacious and comfortable room indeed.
At the heart of Rhino River Camp is the dining area, bar and space to relax, read, unwind and share tales of what you have seen on safari with the other visitors to the camp.
Rhino River Camp swimming pool is nearby, built above the contour of the riverbank and surrounded with comfortable wooden decking. A separate cottage devoted to massage and other spa treatments completes the facilities available to our guests.
