The moment you pass through the main door of the Stone House into the lush patio garden, you leave the bustle of the town behind and relax in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Stone house has 12 well furnished double rooms, 10 with private and 4 with shared bathroom.
All rooms have fans, mosquito nets and telephone. The hotel has its own reliable water supply. The rooftop restaurant, with one of the finest views in lamu offers a good selection of seafood dishes and swahili delicacies. Vegetarians are also catered for.
The activities one can involve themselves in include dhow sailing to Matondoni, during the day, where dhows are built or visit 16th Century Takwa Ruins, go fishing and snorkelling at Manda Toto or take a 3km or 15 minutes boat ride to fabulous Shella beach, 14km of golden sand backed by dunes. In the evening take leisurely walk through the town streets and drift into the night fragrance of the peaceful evening bazaar life and enjoy the aromas of charcoal cooked shish kebabs and strong coffee.
