Also, you can rent a floor, a whole house, or, as large groups do to celebrate weddings, birthdays and other private functions, book Banana House in its entirety, with our experienced staff catering to all your needs.
With its remarkable views of the sea, the dunes and our own beautifully tended gardens, Banana House is simply and tastefully furnished in traditional Swahili style. Wellness Penthouse
At Banana House we offer three different penthouses.
Banana Wellness penthouse is our largest penthouse with two double bedrooms, both with large open louvre doors to create a feeling of sleeping outside. Both rooms have each a bathroom attached. The penthouse has fantastic views on sea, dunes and gardens. Two relaxing swingbeds make you not wanting to leave this comfortable penthouse. The sun terrace is equally relaxing in the day or in the evening seeing the full moon rise. It has a small fridge for your drinks.
Banana Penthouse
Banana Penthouse is a 200m2 private rooftop , sleeping under the makuti (palmleaves) roof, it has one large bedroom with attached bathroom. On the large veranda is a traditional Swahili bed, a swingbed and different siting areas. The lovely terrace is great for sunbathing or gazing at the stars. The view from Banana Penthouse is the sea and the gardens. Your meals will be served on your penthouse. As many guests say: " The penthouse is difficult to leave... even for the beach."
Sweet Banana Penthouse
Sweet Banana Penthouse is our newest penthouse with a kingsize wooden Swahili bed, overlooking the sea, different terraces to relax and completely private.
Banana Standard Rooms
On first floors we have our standard rooms with large kingsize beds and ensuite bathroom. We have three triple rooms, one single bedroom and one twin bedroom. Every floor has its own dining and sitting area with comfortable daybeds and nice views on to garden and sea. We offer possibilities to have lunch or dinner at your own floor or we set up a private table for you in the garden or on the rooftop.
Banana Family Rooms
On the groundfloor of Banana House we offer three interconnected rooms with two bathrooms for families with young children or for youngsters who like to be all together. Each room has a double bed and two rooms have an extra single bed. A babycot is available on request at no extra cost. The outside veranda is large with direct access to garden and swimming pool.
Activities
Swahili Dinner
We organise traditional Swahili dinners, prepared by the local women. If you're interested, we'll even take you to the local house where they prepare the dinner from early morning onwards. The dinner is served in our garden, seated on pillows, eaten by hand under the light of candles, the moon and stars.
Beach Barbeque
Whether you're a small or large group, we'll organize a fantastic beach barbeque for you – complete with bonfire, Swahili drumming and dancing on the beach!
Dhow Dinner
Another great way to spend your evening is by having dinner on the dhow. We sail away at sunset and find a quiet spot to anchor the boat, where we serve a simple but delicious dinner. Eat on the boat and gaze at the stars or the moonrise.
Swahili Drumming
Drums are essential in the Swahili culture, used at weddings, Koran readings, stick dances and parties. We organize an evening drumming with the local people and show you all the different drums.
Yoga
We have daily yoga from 9 – 10am and from 5 – 6pm
