Loisiijo Lodge Shompole is tucked Within the famous Rift Valley, the Ewaso Ngiro River flows from the highlands of the Mau escarpment into the soda lake of Lake Natron.
Hidden away on the fig tree shaded river banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River, beyond Lake Magadi is Loisiijo Lodge.
When staying at 'Loisiijo' you will be supporting the local Masai who are the owners of the lodge.
Revenue from tourism & visits to the conservation area are contributing to the well-being of the local people.
The lodge has been constructed for the purpose of creating employment, as well as to encourage the local community to preserve their wildlife & natural environment for the purpose of tourism.
Access / Distances
The lodge is 170 kms from Nairobi For aircraft arrivals there is an airstrip some 10 kms away near Olkiramatian & close to the river.
A 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended. A skilled driver in a high clearance 2WD vehicle could reach the lodge in dry conditions.

The Cottages
There are 4 independent bungalow/bedrooms.
- 3 bungalows consisting of: one double & one single bed
- One larger family bungalow consisting of: 1 bedroom with 2 double bed and one large wooden deck with two sofa which can be transformed at night in two single beds.
Each bungalow has it's own independent bathroom with a flush toilet, and an open air shower. Solar electricity is available in all bungalows. 2 of them are equipped with fans.
All together, with children sharing with parents, the lodge can accommodate up to 12 people maximum.
The Dining Area
Loisiijo consists of a large mess building with dining and sitting room overlooking the Uaso Nyiro River and shaded by huge fig trees lining the river banks. The style is simple and rustic built with local volcanic stone walls and thatch roofs made by the local Maasai women.

Important note:
For guest coming on a self catering basis: Whatever is brought to Loisiijo in the form of tinned food, bottles, plastic etc. must be removed at the end of a stay. Waste will therefore be
returned to Guests in a Bin Liner upon departure in order that it can be disposed of properly at your homes usual rubbish disposal.
