Kerio View is perched on the edge of the Kerio Valley escarpment -- a branch of the Great Rift Valley of East Africa.It offers prospects of the Tugen Hills and Tiati, the sacred mountain of the Pokot people. Down in the valley, and central to the panoramic view, is Lake Kamnarok, set in the middle of the Rimoi Game Reserve and fed by the waters of the Kerio River.

The Bar

The management of Kerio View seeks to bring together local and overseas visitors in a friendly and relaxed environment to enjoy the unique view and undisturbed beauty of the Kerio escarpment. Indeed the motto of Kerio View is: "A Place to Relax".

Meet Mwangi the barman and ask him to mix you a cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic); he is always looking for new ones.

The Kerio View Cuisine

The restaurant offers table d'hôte and à la carte menus with wide variety of dishes. Specialities include crispy Kerio View salads and different "home-made" breads.

Lunch and Dinner of the day are available For many people, the full set lunch is too much and they prefer to take just a light meal in the middle of the day.

The à la carte provides many snack options in addition to heavier meals.

For the Kids

To cater for the interests of our young clients , KV has a kids' play area , complete with 'bouncing Castle'. With prior arrangement , an English-speaking nanny can be arranged for, at an extra cost. This way, your stay here will really be about enjoying yourself and relaxing.

Accommodation

A small number of self-contained cottages or bandas are available for visitors. Please make your bookings well in advance.It is hoped to increase accomodation capacity in the near future. Because of its high altitude, Kerio View can be quite cold at night and evening. Overnight visitors are advised to bring an extra sweater. However,the management will always provide a fire in the large fireplace of the main building.

The occasional cold nights ensure that malarial mosquitoes are not a problem; nevertheless, every banda is provided with mosquito nets. Monica and other housekeeping staff are always on hand to ensure you have everything you need.

Outdoor Barbeque

This is a favourite of many customers. Roast Kerio lamb or goat meat is a speciality and can be prepared in your own special outdoor area.

Grass-thatched shelters called "El Niño" and "Monkey House" are very popular for barbeque venues and may have to be booked in advance on busy weekends.

For a mouth-watering experience take the roast meats with a spicy sauce and fresh Kerio salad. And, if you have any room left, finish off with a dish of your favourite ice-cream.

The waiters, Jacklyne, Tom and Mwangi, will always be close at hand to take your drinks and special orders.

Paragliding

Kerio View has gsm coordinates: N 00 39 307 E 035 30 664 and an altitude of about 2360m. Within a short distance of Kerio View there a number of take-off points overlooking the valley escarpment. The most appropriate can be selected according the prevailing wind direction and conditions. Landing sites may be on the lower "shelf" 400 m below or right down in the valley 1000m below.

The local people are friendly and generally do not disturb or object to the activities of our paragliding visitors.However, KV staff are always available to assist in liaising with people of the area and arranging for vehicles to pick up paragliders and theirequipment.
