Fairmont Ark Tree Lodge was opened in November 1969 and it overlooks the Yasabara waterhole perhaps the largest salt-lick in the Aberdare Mountains and the haunt of a variety of forest game unequalled in Africa.

This tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to resemble the actual Ark, designed with decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole.

The Ark Tree Lodge has a total of 60 en-suite rooms with the following categorization:

Fairmont Ark Tree Lodge is usually reached via the Aberdare Country. Tucked away at the heart of one of Kenya's Aberdare National Park, this intriguing Tree Lodge is an ark of discovery from the drawbridge entrance to a choice of terraces overlooking the floodlit Yasabara waterhole.

The rustic environment offers a charming retreat for overnight visitors eager to view the local wildlife at close range. The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and saltlick which attracts a host of wildlife such as Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards and Bushbucks.

The Ark Lodge is 16 Kilometers (10 miles) from the Mweiga airfield or one hour's drive from Nyeri airstrip or 2 hour from Nanyuki.

• Children below 7 years are not allowed at the Ark unless during special children`s night
• Children between 7 - 11 yrs sharing with parents (maximum of 2) - 50% of adult rate
• Children between 7 - 11 yrs in own room 75% of adult rate applies
• 12 years and above - adult rate applies
